Designer Statement
Coming from a fine art background, art has always been a way to express myself and have a platform to showcase who I am. When I discovered Communication Design, I realized how it gives people a voice and brings their ideas to life. Design is a problem solver, opening portals to realms that only designers can imagine. It exists everywhere and everyone needs it.
My skills inherently draw me towards illustration and animation. Additionally, I find joy in UI/UX design, as well as branding, marketing, and advertising. Much like my art, where I paint and draw across various mediums, my design work reflects a diverse variety of interests and skills.
With my creative work, I aim to contribute to my community. I want my projects to have deeper meaning and uplift those around me. I want to help other people thrive, by helping them establish their business, reach a broader audience, effectively communicate their message, and build stronger bonds.
I draw my biggest influences from my Latino roots and culture. Growing up in Costa Rica, I was surrounded by a rich traditional culture of beautiful art. My work is particularly influenced by the indigenous women of Costa Rica. Through mutual support, they’ve boosted their economy and improved their own lives. My goal extends beyond personal success; I aspire to contribute to the empowerment of my community. I envision a collective rise, where we grow and thrive together.
