A SYMPHONY OF SPLENDOR

Turandot

A captivating opera by Giacomo Puccini, unfolds in the mythical realm of ancient China. The narrative weaves a tapestry of love, sacrifice, and the enduring power of music. Our goal for this project is to create an advertising system for the Denver Performing Arts Complex, aiming to captivate the audience and convey the profound love within this beautiful narrative.

The comprehensive system comprises an intricately designed promotional poster that strategically captures the essence of the opera, meticulously crafted tickets that serve as exclusive passes to the enchanting performance, and an array of opera merchandise thoughtfully curated to enhance the overall immersive experience for patrons and enthusiasts alike.

Turandot blends fine art and design, featuring hand-drawn characters colored with pencils on paper. They were later scanned and added to the poster and tickets using Photoshop. I aimed to highlight Chinese culture, an often-overlooked aspect in previous Turandot’s opera posters.

The brand mark is a costume-made design that mimics the brushstrokes of an ink brush which is used in Chinese calligraphy and painting. By incorporating realistic art I was able to depict the scene that I was looking to convey; a scene of connection and intimacy of both characters, highlighting their love story.
